SCWK 338 - Introduction to Social Work Practice(3 credits) Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Social Work Program and SCWK 250 and SCWK 270; and SCWK 320, which may be taken concurrently This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the basic knowledge, skills and values essential to entry-level generalist social work practice. The focus will be on the application of social work knowledge and values and the development of interviewing skills as they relate to relationship building, data collection and assessment of client systems. In addition to the two-and-a-half-hour lecture weekly, the course incorporates a 90-hour field placement.
