HIST 459 - American Military History, 1607-present(3 credits) Prerequisite: HIST 221 or HIST 222 or consent of instructor This course explores America’s military past from the beginnings of English settlement in North America through the Global War on Terror. Special emphasis will be given to the role of war in American society, American military strategy and operational art, military institutions and the evolution of the distinctly American way of waging war. Offered alternate years. May be taken for graduate-level credit.
