SOCI 218 - Chinese Society and Culture(3 credits) Prerequisite: SOCI 102 or consent of instructor This course provides a general introduction to Chinese society and culture. It examines the structure of Chinese society and the characteristics of Chinese culture. The course pays particular attention to China’s economic reform and its social and political consequences. Topics covered include Confucianism, Chinese martial arts, free market within a communist regime, China’s political future, changing Sino-U.S. relations, and growing prosperity and inequality in China.
