SCWK 530 - Social Work Practice I(3 credits) Prerequisite: Matriculation in the MSW program; must be taken concurrently with SCWK 590 This course introduces social work practice skills for working with individuals, families, and small groups. Students are introduced to the problem-solving process and to the process of building a professional relationship. Policies, purposes, and functions of social service agencies are examined. Attention is given to the development of culturally congruent social work practice skills in relation to age, ethnicity, gender and other variables.
