DANC 264 - Dance History from 1915(3 credits) Dance History from 1915 will investigate the development of Western theatrical dance from the end of Diaghilev’s Ballet Russe period to contemporary American choreographers, including Martha Graham, George Balanchine and Alvin Ailey. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the rich history of dance in its social, political and historical contexts. The course will focus on the development of Western theatrical dance through an exploration of prominent individuals, artistic trends and the continuing development of dance technique.
