CRJU 324 - Law, Justice and Society(3 credits) Prerequisite: CRJU 201 This course explores the relationship between the social forces (economic, demographic, political, religious and technological) that shape legal systems, and the way that legal systems, in turn, shape social reality. Historical and contemporary interdisciplinary theories will be examined as to their usefulness in understanding the relationships between law, justice and society. Particular attention will be given to issues of social control, legitimacy, deviance, justice, the workings of the legal profession and how public truth is constructed. Offered alternate years, spring semester.
