The English Education concentration is designed for students who wish to pursue a career as a middle or high school English teacher. The concentration partially fulfills the requirements for the Massachusetts Initial Teacher Licensure. Students seeking licensure must also complete a major in Secondary Education. Students should also refer to the Educator Preparation and Licensure Policies and Procedures section of this catalog for specific licensure and major requirements.

300-level area electives in Shakespeare, Language and Linguistics, and Young Adult (9 credits)
Complete one course from each area below: 300-level elective in British literature (non-Shakespeare) (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Elective in American Literature (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: World Literature (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Diverse Literature (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Research methods (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Capstone: Senior seminar (3 credits)
The seminar requirement satisfies the CWRM requirement. Complete one course, selected from the following: Total minimum credits: 36-39
Core Curriculum Requirements
A minimum of 120 earned credit hours is required for graduation. These earned hours include the Core Curriculum Requirements as specified in the Core Curriculum section of this catalog and at the Core Curriculum website, www.bridgew.edu/corecurriculum.
