Early Childhood Education (Initial Licensure) MEd

This program is designed for persons who have a bachelor’s degree and seek initial licensure in early childhood education (PreK-2).
Students should consult the “College of Graduate Studies” section of the catalog for information regarding graduate program application policies and procedures.

Admission Requirements
- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.8 based upon four years of work
- A qualifying score on the Communication and Literacy Skills. A qualifying score on Foundations of Reading or Early Childhood portions of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure® (MTEL)
- Three appropriate letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work
Students seeking initial licensure should consult the section of this catalog titled Educator Preparation and Licensure Policies and Procedures for professional education admission and retention information, and institutional deadlines. Admission to professional education includes successful completion of ELED 510 Fundamentals of Elementary Education and its 40-hour prepracticum. Students must complete 80 hours of prepractica experience. A 40-hour experience is attached to the course ELED 510. An additional 40 hours is attached to the professional courses: reading, language arts/social studies, mathematics and science. Exit requirement
