Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Graduate Certificate


The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Certificate Program is designed to provide any interested graduate student with the knowledge and competencies to address the social emotional learning challenges of elementary, secondary and post-secondary students in schools. Candidates participate in a four-course sequence designed to provide expertise in five SEL core competencies; teaching practices that model and facilitate SEL development; evidence-based strategies for dealing with trauma and building student resiliency; and completion of a competency portfolio in Social Emotional Learning. The SEL Certificate Program can be taken as an independent certificate program or as an embedded sequence of courses within an existing MEd program.

Admission Requirements


Candidates for the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Certificate must be qualified graduate students as demonstrated by evidence of a bachelor’s degree.
