Department: Communication Sciences and Disorders
This graduate program is designed for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders or a related field who have completed the prerequisite course work in communication sciences and disorders. The program provides participants with the academic and clinical course work required for pursuing national certification and state licensure as a speech-language pathologist. It is a full-time program of study which is to be completed in two years.

- Bachelor’s degree
- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Three letters of recommendation
- Letter of intent
- Personal interview
- Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work
- Prerequisite undergraduate course work required with a minimum grade of “B-” in each:
- Speech Anatomy and Physiology
- Speech and Hearing Science
- Language Acquisition
- Phonetics
- Introduction to Audiology
- Aural Rehabilitation
- Neurological Bases of Speech, Language and Hearing
- 25 documented/supervised observation hours
- Biology
- Chemistry or Physics
- Statistics
- Social or Behavioral Science
Grade Requirement
- Students must maintain an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 to remain in the program.
- If the student’s overall GPA falls below 3.0, then they will be placed on academic probation.
- A student placed on academic probation for two semesters at any time while in the graduate program will be dismissed.
- The minimum grade requirement in all program courses is a “B-“.
Program of Study
Students must complete all required course work as outlined below, as well as 375 practicum hours (in addition to the 25 observation hours required for admission). These hours must be acquired through diagnostic and treatment services of communication disorders and swallowing across the lifespan.
