|
Departments: Elementary and Early Childhood Education; Secondary Education and Educational Leadership
The Literacy Studies minor is designed for education majors and other majors who seek proficiency in the teaching of reading and the language arts (writing, speaking and listening) for pre-kindergarten through adults. Among the many premises of the Common Core State Standards (2010) is the inclusion of reading and language arts in all content subjects. The minor covers the necessary skills to teach literacy skills and view literacy development through a global and critical lens.
For additional information, interested students should contact Dr. Marlene Correia in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education.
