Admission Requirements

• Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work
• Resumé
• A personal statement that follows the guidelines provided on the application
• Three letters of reference, ideally from supervisors, faculty members and others able to attest to the applicant’s readiness to undertake graduate education in social work (see additional requirements for Advanced Standing references)
• Preferred GPA of 3.0

The admission committee’s decision will be based on the applicant’s demonstrated academic ability and evidence of interpersonal skills and self-awareness. Special attributes such as linguistic ability, a demonstrated commitment working with underserved populations, and skills such as those in research and policy implementation will be considered.

Expedited Admission Requirements

Expedited admission to the Advanced Standing, MSW cohort is offered to applicants who are current BSW students at Bridgewater. Students will be reviewed for expedited admission as long as they meet the below criteria and adhere to the application deadline:

• Current and maintenance of 3.0 minimum BSU GPA, including minimum grades of “B” in all SCWK courses
• Completion of SCWK 338 at the time of application 
• Video or audio essay addressing required prompts 
• Writing sample
• Two (2) letters of recommendation, one from a BSU SSW faculty member and the other from a professional reference

Program of Study

Please note that while the following cohort schedules identify specific semester or summer sessions in which electives are to be taken, students may choose when to complete their requisite credits of electives, and are not bound by the schedule of electives that follows.
