Physical Education, Professional Tennis Management and Coaching Concentration, MS

The USTA-endorsed M.S. in Physical Education, Professional Tennis Management & Coaching (PTM & C) concentration is a 19-month, cohort-based, low-residency program designed to support the training and preparation of tennis professionals for careers within the tennis industry. All degree program courses are offered online, with the exception of two required, 10-day, on-campus summer residency experiences. A three-credit (minimum) internship experience in the tennis industry is a requirement of this program.*
*With permission of the graduate coordinator, a student demonstrating evidence of current or prior experience as a tennis professional may opt to complete an additional approved elective course in lieu of the internship experience (PHED 595).

Admission Requirements
- Completed graduate degree application and application fee
- Current resumé, including evidence of tennis experience, including coaching background, participation, certifications, recognitions and awards, and/or other related experience
- Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work
- A minimum 2.75 GPA based upon four years of work or a minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA based upon work completed during the junior and senior years
- *GRE Scores required for applicants with a GPA below 3.5
- Evidence of current or past certification through PTR or USPTA is recommended
- Evidence of current certification in Basic Life Support (Adult and Pediatric CPR & AED)
- Three appropriate letters of recommendation. One must be from a current or former tennis trainer, tennis coach, or other tennis professional, and must address the applicant’s playing ability (current or in the past), and potential for future success as a tennis professional.
- Personal statement
*Applicants are eligible for the GRE waiver if they have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher from an accredited college or university.

*Students choosing to complete a thesis (PHED 502) are also required to complete PHED 517 or PHED 579 as an elective.
