Global Religious Studies Minor

The Global Religious Studies program is designed to ensure that students completing the minor achieve the following learning outcomes:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the history, central texts, beliefs, practices and contemporary manifestations of several global religious and spiritual expressions.
  • Illustrate the ability to apply an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural approach to the academic study of religious and spiritual expressions.
  • Illustrate the ability to discern and explore the ways in which religion and spirituality are embedded in political, social and cultural expressions across time and place.
  • Demonstrate the ability to locate, synthesize and effectively communicate about religion and spirituality in both oral and written expressions.

Course Requirements


Electives (15 credits)


Complete five courses, selected from the following list. At least three different academic departments must be represented, and at least one course must be at the 300- or 400-level:
