Early Childhood Education (Professional Licensure), Applications of Technology in Elementary Classroom Concentration, MEd

This degree program is designed for persons who hold initial licensure in early childhood education (grades PK-2) and are seeking professional licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The program is designed to meet the “appropriate master’s degree” requirement, which is part of the criteria for professional stage licensure as set forth in the most recent MA DESE licensure regulations. This concentration is intended to help early childhood classroom teachers learn how to effectively use various technologies to help their students learn. Technology is integrated throughout the program’s course work and offerings are aligned with Massachusetts standards.

Admission Requirements
- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.8 based upon four years of work or a 3.0 undergraduate GPA based upon course work completed in the junior and senior years
- Transcripts of all undergraduate courses
- Undergraduate candidates will file an application for Graduate Admission in the semester the candidate is in the professional “block” of education courses or during student teaching
- Graduate candidates must provide evidence of holding an initial early childhood teacher license in Massachusetts
- Evidence of passing scores for the MTELs® that were required for the applicant’s initial teaching license in Massachusetts prior to taking graduate level courses in the concentration
- Three reference letters
Foundation courses (15 credits)
Electives (15 credits)
Complete five graduate courses (400-level U/G or 500-level), approved by the program advisor. Four of the fives electives must include a focus on the concentration. Courses not on the pre-approved list must be approved by the program coordinator.
