Admission Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• GRE: preferred minimum overall score of 300; preferred minimum verbal score of 150; preferred minimum quantitative score of 150; preferred analytic writing score of 3.5-5.0
• A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
• Three letters of recommendation
• Letter of intent
• Personal interview
• Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work
• Prerequisite undergraduate course work required with a minimum grade of “B-” in each:
  • Introduction to Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Speech Anatomy and Physiology
  • Speech and Hearing Science
  • Language Acquisition
  • Phonetics
  • Introduction to Audiology
  • Neurological Bases of Speech, Language and Hearing
  • Linguistics
  • 25 documented/supervised observation hours
  • Biology 
  • Chemistry or Physics 
  • Aural Rehabilitation
  • Statistics
  • Social or Behavioral Science

Grade Requirements

• Students must maintain an overall minimum GPA of 3.000 to remain in the program.
• If the student’s overall GPA falls below 3.000, then they will be placed on academic probation.
• A student placed on academic probation for two semesters at any time while in the graduate program will be dismissed.
• The minimum grade requirement in all program courses is a B-.

Program of Study

Students must complete all required course work as outlined below, as well as 375 practicum hours (in addition to the 25 observation hours required for admission). These hours must be acquired through diagnostic and treatment services of communication disorders and swallowing across the lifespan.
