The Autism Endorsement Certificate Program is designed to provide previously licensed teachers with the knowledge and competencies to specialize in the instructional strategies appropriate for students challenged with autism. The program of study ensures all of the subject matter knowledge standards for the Autism Endorsement are met. The Autism Endorsement Certificate Program can be taken as an independent certificate program or as an embedded course sequence within an existing MEd program.

Admission Requirements
Candidates for the Autism Endorsement Certificate Program must have an existing initial or professional teaching license and a minimum of three credits in special education, or possession of an initial or professional license as Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities, Teachers of Students with Severe Disabilities, Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, or Teacher of the Visually Impaired. Qualifications for endorsement by the DESE requires a pre-existing teaching license from which the autism endorsement program may be added.
