Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Programs

Department: English

The Writing and Writing Studies concentration in the English major introduces students to the discipline of Rhetoric and Composition, which addresses the multiple ways that we engage each other through language, writing and communication. The concentration offers students the opportunity to practice various genres of writing, including technical and professional writing, journalistic reporting and creative writing; to study rhetoric and how cultural groups employ persuasive writing to achieve their goals; and to study the composing process writers engage in as a subject of inquiry.

Learning Outcomes
