Special Education, Professional Practices in Special Education Minor

Admission Requirements
- To declare a minor in professional practices in special education, the student must complete a Program of Study Declaration form.
- Students declaring the minor should contact the chairperson of the Department of Special Education to develop a program plan.
- Candidates for the minor in professional practices in special education must meet the College of Education and Health Sciences Professional Education Program admission requirements that include, but are not limited to:
- passage of the Communication and Literacy portion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure® (MTEL)
- a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.8
- completion of ENGL 101 and ENGL 102 with a minimum grade of “C+” prior to enrolling in SPED 300- or 400-level course work
Required courses (6 credits)
Required professional practices courses (6 credits)
Electives (6 credits)
Complete the six credits of electives, with the following restrictions:
Total minimum credits: 18
