Studio Art, Art Education Concentration, BA

Learning Outcomes

Grade Requirement

Students majoring in art must achieve a minimum grade of “C-” in all of the required courses within the art program, repeating courses if necessary to achieve the required grade.

Course Requirements

Foundation courses (15 credits)

Additional required courses (3 credits)

ARTS 141 - Portfolio Review for Studio Art Majors (0 credit)*
ARTS 225 - Drawing II
*Must be completed upon completion of foundation courses and prior to enrollment in 300-level studio art courses.

Concentration course (3 credits)

ARTS 392 - Methods and Materials for the Art Teacher (CWRM)

Art history course (3 credits)

Art history electives (6 credits)

Complete two courses, selected from the following; at least one course must be from the list of global art history courses:

Studio art electives (12 credits)

Complete at least four additional studio art (ARTS) courses at the 200-level or above.

Please note: ARTS 230 - Painting I , ARTS 240 - Sculpture I , ARTS 255 - Printmaking I , ARTS 260 - Graphic Design I , and ARTS 270 - Ceramics I are recommended electives.

Total minimum credits: 42
