The writing and writing studies concentration is designed to offer a student supervised writing throughout the university career. Students may select courses which emphasize applied writing (technical and business writing), creative writing or the teaching of writing.

Required courses (12 credits)
Elective in pre-1800 British literature (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Elective in post-1800 British literature (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Elective in American literature (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Electives (9 credits)
Complete nine additional credit hours, selected from the following: Senior Seminar (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: Capstone (3 credits)
Complete one course, selected from the following: *Note:
ENGL 493 may be applied to both the Senior Seminar and Capstone requirements. However, an additional three credits must be completed to meet the 36 credit requirement in the major. The additional three credits are selected from any of the elective lists above.
Total minimum credits: 36
Core Curriculum Requirements
A minimum of 120 earned credit hours is required for graduation.
