ECED 361 - Creating an Effective Early Childhood Environment(3 credits) Prerequisite: Admission to the Professional Education Program and passing scores on all appropriate MTEL®: Communication and Literacy, Foundations of Reading and Early Childhood This course explores ways to create a developmentally appropriate, standards-based, inclusive early childhood setting (PreK-2). Topics include early childhood standards, issues of diversity and multicultural education, classroom-based “inclusive” teaching and assessment strategies, management techniques and parent-community relationships. Teacher candidates will also continue to gather evidence for their Professional Teaching Portfolio.
