CHEM 131 - Survey of Chemistry I(4 credits)
The CHEM 131/132 sequence of courses surveys the broad range of topics that comprise the field of chemistry. Topics covered first semester include atomic structure, chemical bonding, states of matter, solutions, chemical reactions (with an emphasis on acid/base reactions) and nuclear chemistry. This sequence is designed for students requiring a yearlong course in chemistry, but who are not planning further study in chemistry (except for instrumentation, CHEM 250). Three hours of lecture and one three-hour laboratory weekly. Offered both semesters. (CNSL)
