GEOG 121 - Physical Geography(4 credits) Corequisite: GEOG 121L This course explores the fundamental processes and patterns of Earth’s physical systems, including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere. Topics include weather and climate, landforms and geomorphology, water systems, natural hazards, and ecosystems. Emphasis is placed on spatial thinking, Earth system interactions, and the role of physical geography in shaping the environment and influencing human activity. Through lectures, labs, and map-based exercises, students will gain foundational geographic knowledge and skills for understanding the natural world. Three hours of lecture and two hours of laboratory weekly. Offered fall, spring, summer. Course cannot be taken for credit if GEOG 122 has been taken for credit, effective Spring 2021.
