ENGL 369 - Topics in Editing and Publishing

Prerequisite: ENGL 203 or ENGL 226
This course explores topics in editing and publishing that vary from semester to semester, with the aim of preparing students for future careers in print and web publishing, editing, technical writing, communications fields, and non-profits. Topics addressed may include editorial project management, copyediting, proofreading, acquisitions, fact-checking, inclusive or bias-free language, academic citation practices, house style, grammar, formatting, electronic publishing software, appropriate use and limitations of AI tools, and current standards of professional writing. Repeatable for different topics: may earn a maximum of 6 credits. Offered alternate years.
