ENGL 351 - The Professional Writing Tutor(3 credits) Prerequisite: ENGL 102 In this course, students will learn about the role of the professional writing tutor in a variety of work and school settings. Students will study the history and scholarship of one-on-one writing instruction within the context of Writing Center Scholarship and, more broadly, Composition Studies. Through research and opportunities for practice, students will gain an understanding of writing processes and pedagogy and how tutoring as writing instruction differs from classroom-based writing instruction. This course will be required of those students serving as writing fellows in ENGL 101E: Enhanced Writing Rhetorically Offered spring semester.
