CNGC 540 - Counseling Skills for Helping Professionals

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: Matriculation in the MEd counseling or postmaster’s program; or consent of instructor
Corequisite: CNGC 528

This experiential skills-based course is designed to assist students in developing their counseling techniques. Specific foci of the class include essential interviewing, counseling, case conceptualization skills, and strategies for personal and professional self-evaluation. Students will integrate professional ethics, legal standards, technology, evidence-base interventions and multicultural competencies in the practice of helping professionals. Minimum grade of “B-” to be considered passing. Offered annually.
