CNGC 541 - Counseling Children and Adolescents(3 credits) Prerequisite: CNGC 528 and matriculation in the MEd counseling or postmaster’s program; or consent of instructor This course is designed to provide students with foundational counseling skills specifically tailored for working with children and adolescents. Emphasizing a person-centered approach and strengths-based approach, the course will cover topics such as play therapy, use of expressive arts, communication strategies and ethical considerations when working with minors. Students will develop the necessary skills to effectively engage in counseling with children and adolescents in diverse counseling settings. Minimum grade of “B-” to be considered passing. Offered annually.
