SOCI 224 - Youth Homelessness(3 credits) This course focuses on youth homelessness in the United States. It examines evolving definitions of “youth” and “homelessness,” and explores risk factors, policy solutions, and ongoing challenges and controversies. Students will explore legislation that addresses youth homelessness and evaluate its efficacy at the local, state and federal levels. Students will use sociological research to examine the risks and barriers facing homeless youth and explore innovative solutions that promise equal access to housing, education and other resources.
