COMP 535 - Graduate Teaching Seminar(3 credits) Prerequisites: Matriculation in the Computer Science MS Program and Consent of the department; formal application required This is an interactive, seminar and practicum style course intended to introduce computer science graduate students to teaching. The course has two components: a teaching “apprenticeship” that pairs students with professors and has them take part in the teaching process, and a weekly seminar that will include discussions and readings. Students will shadow a professor’s undergraduate class, lead one or more discussions or lessons, and assist on building course material. Written and oral feedback on the students’ teaching performance will be provided from the faculty mentor as well as from the students enrolled in the undergraduate class. Repeatable: may earn a maximum of nine credits; only three credits count toward the MS program. Graded on a (P) Pass/(N) No Pass basis. Offered periodically.
