SOCI 240 - Youth and Social Change

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: SOCI 102 or SOCI 103 or SOCI 104 or consent of instructor
This course examines the types of youth engagement in activism and social movements from the 1960s to the present. We will focus on the theories that discuss how youth are socialized to participate in politics, the reasons for engagement or disengagement among youth, barriers to engagement, as well as how types of involvement have changed over time. Offered fall and spring semesters.
