COMP 418 - Data Mining(3 credits) Prerequisite: COMP 250 This course introduces basic concepts and several techniques of data mining. It focuses on common predictive and descriptive methods, including classification, clustering and association analysis. In addition, it will cover topics from broad aspects of data science, such as text mining, data visualization and probabilistic problem solving. Students will learn to make ethical and socially responsible decisions regarding data gathering, analysis and interpretation. Offered alternate years.
