SOCI 214 - Middle Eastern Societies

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: SOCI 102 or SOCI 103 or SOCI 104 or consent of instructor
This course introduces the cultures and social structures of Middle Eastern societies, with a focus on social change in the region. Topics covered include the role of Islam, patterns of leadership, the distribution of wealth and power, family patterns, the position of women and the nature of work. Offered fall, spring, summer.
