PHED 518 - Advances in Exercise Metabolism

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: EPHY 401, evidence of undergraduate or graduate-level preparation in exercise physiology, or consent of instructor
Students will study advanced topics concerned with bioenergetics during exercise. It will focus on acute and chronic responses to exercise from various perspectives. Among topics covered will be cardiovascular/ventilatory coupling, chemomechanical coupling, anaerobic threshold, substrate utilization, electrolyte imbalance, oxygen use and hormonal controls of metabolisms.
