SPED 218 - Servicing Early Childhood Learners in Inclusive Settings

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: ECED 230 or ELED 120 or SPED 202 or SPED 211
This course will provide students with information and tools necessary to understand and work with very young children (Birth-K) who demonstrate a wide range of abilities and challenges. Students will study disability, the special education process, Response to Intervention and specialized instruction. Best practice accommodations in an inclusive setting will be emphasized, appropriate interventions/methods and programs that support/match children’s unique developmental trajectories and needs will be discussed, and inclusive classroom management strategies will be explored. Offered fall and spring semester.
