POLI 498 - Internship in Political Science(1-15 credits) Prerequisite: Junior or senior standing; approval of the internship application by the department chair and internship coordinator; and confirmation from the student’s academic advisor within their major that the student meets or exceeds the 2.5 GPA requirement A non-classroom experience intended to complement the academic preparation of juniors and seniors majoring or minoring in political science, or who have interests in civic engagement and leadership in either the public or non-profit sectors. Placements are in areas such as federal, state, county, city, and town governments, and in interest groups, political parties and campaigns, and non-profit organizations engaged in work related to politics and public policy. Only three internship credits can be applied toward the political science major or minor; internship credits beyond three will count as free electives. Repeatable: may earn a maximum of 15 credits. Offered annually.
