SOCI 380 - Studying City Life: Contemporary Urban Ethnography(3 credits)
Prerequisite: SOCI 300
This course teaches students to become skilled observers of urban environments. It offers hands-on experience with various forms of data collection including field notes, surveys and interviews. It also examines the personal, cultural and ethical issues involved in studying people at first hand. Students will read contemporary ethnographies that explore urban settings and problems and collect their own field data in a setting of their choice. Offered spring semester.
