MATH 612 - Algebra II(3 credits)
Prerequisite: MATH 611
This is the second course in graduate-level Abstract Algebra. The course continues with the ring theory introduced in Algebra I. Ring theory topics include homomorphisms, isomorphisms, ideals (maximal and prime), Euclidean, unique factorization and principal ideal domains, and polynomial rings. Topics continue with modules, fields, field extensions, algebraic closure, field automorphisms and Galois Theory. Offered annually.
