MATH 631 - Topology

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: MATH 521 or consent of instructor
Topology is the art of measurement without numbers. This course equips students with a topological perspective that improves understanding across many fields of mathematics and prepares them for further study of topology itself. Topics include topological spaces and continuous functions, product and quotient topologies, metric spaces and metrizability, convergence, compactness, connectedness, countability and separation. We will also explore selected theories and applications of homotopy and homology. Offered annually.
