PHSC 520 - Diversity in STEM(3 credits)
This course will help students understand the importance of racial, gender, socio-economic and other types of diversity in STEM as well as what it means to teach STEM for social justice. Students will learn the historical biases and barriers faced by non-white males in STEM and how these have changed and evolved with time. Students will learn about the contributions to STEM by diverse individuals as well as pedagogical techniques for increasing minority representation in STEM. Offered alternate years.
