CRJU 531 - Principles of Restorative Justice (Concepts, Theory and Philosophy)(3 credits) This course focuses on the growing movement of restorative justice that addresses harm and crime in society by exploring the needs and roles of victims, offenders and the community. The aim of restorative justice is to create a safe community, healing for victims and opportunities for accountability, transformation and restoration of offenders. This course will investigate the concepts, historical roots, theoretical origins, fundamental principles, philosophies and practices of restorative justice. Offered annually.
