HIST 417 - Edwardian England(3 credits) Prerequisite: Any two of the following courses: HIST 111, HIST 112, HIST 131, HIST 132, HIST 221, HIST 222; or consent of instructor This course presents a thematic study of England from the 1890s until the end of the First World War with an emphasis on social class, parliamentary politics and literature. This course examines how social class was structured, and how war altered a culture. The Edwardian period marked the dawn of a new century, presented innovative technologies and growing demands for full democracy. Offered alternate years. May be taken for graduate-level credit.
