SPED 217 - Meeting the Needs of All Learners(3 credits) Prerequisite: ELED 220 or SPED 202 or SPED 211 This course will enable the student to identify appropriate strategies to effectively educate students with special education needs with their peers in general education settings. The course will highlight the following topics: High-Leverage Practices, inclusion, co-teaching, collaborative strategies with colleagues and families, the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks subject matter knowledge standards (SMK) and social/emotional learning (SEL), and academic needs of students with special needs in field-based inclusive settings. A 20 hour pre-practicum field experience is required. Offered fall and spring semester.
