READ 654 - Principles and Programs in Professional Development(3 credits) Prerequisite: Matriculation in EdS in Reading; restricted to cohort members Candidates are guided by a thorough knowledge of literacy research and theory and the demand for improving literacy practices. They cultivate leadership in collegial partnerships and relationships by creating and implementing professional development workshops that address literacy curriculum and instruction; the classroom environment; data collection and analysis; and diversity, equity and inclusive practices. Candidates reflect on their experiences working with teacher colleagues and their observations of a reading specialist/literacy coach. Additionally, candidates begin the process of defining the role of a literacy coach by engaging in self-study.
