READ 653 - Diagnosis, Assessment, and Evaluation of Student Performance and Program Effectiveness(3 credits) Prerequisite: Matriculation in EdS in Reading; restricted to cohort members Educators learn and practice diagnostic, decision-making procedures for informing individual literacy curriculum and intervention. The diagnostic process guides the reading specialist in gathering and integrating background information, previous and current literacy data, as well as pertinent information for planning and delivering intensive intervention in a 1-to-1 setting. Candidates learn about how to discuss and analyze student literacy data with teacher-colleagues and families as part of a communication plan. Candidates gain competence and confidence in conducting; analyzing; manipulating; and reporting ongoing, varied and multiple measures of students’ progress. Offered fall and spring semesters.
