READ 650 - History, Theory and Research in Literacy Curriculum and Instruction

(3 credits)
Prerequisite: Matriculation in EdS in Reading; restricted to cohort members
As curriculum and instructional leaders, educators enhance their knowledge of educational research and refine instructional strategies using published research. In addition, candidates support the development and implementation of changes in curriculum to reflect current literacy and educational theories. Candidates will demonstrate knowledge of the historical and evidence-based foundation related to the role of a reading specialist. Includes 25 hours of fieldwork. Offered fall and spring semesters.
