MUSC 472 - Form and Analysis II: The 20th Century(3 credits)
Prerequisite: MUSC 372 and one of the following, which may be taken concurrently: MUSC 221, MUSC 222, MUSC 223, MUSC 224, MUSC 225, MUSC 226, MUSC 231 or MUSC 241
The materials and techniques of 20th -century art music will be examined within a technical and historical context, with special attention to post-tonal styles. Students will listen to and analyze representative works of leading composers, developing their ability to recognize and describe styles of the 20th century. Offered alternate fall semesters.
