ENGL 354 - 20th-Century British Drama(3 credits) Prerequisite: ENGL 203 and ENGL 223 The course surveys British drama from Oscar Wilde to the present. Attention may be given to the crucial role that continental dramatists such as Ibsen, Chekhov and Brecht played in re-energizing the British Theater. There will be emphasis on plays from the modern period as well as contemporary works. Playwrights studied may include Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, John Osborne, Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter, Tom Stoppard and Caryl Churchill.
