BIOL 475 - Parasitology

The relationships between parasitic microorganisms and their hosts will form the basis for this course. Protozoal and multicellular parasites of animals and plants, mechanisms of disease, host defenses and public health aspects of control and treatment will be studied. In the laboratory portion of the course, students will conduct a semester-long project investigating the interaction between a plant host and a parasitic nematode. Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory weekly. Offered alternate spring semesters. May be taken for graduate-level credit.
