TESL 214 - Language Learning Technology and Intercultural Communication(3 credits) In this course, students will explore the impact technology has had on language learning and intercultural communication. In order to examine this, students will learn about the history of Technology Assisted Language Learning (TALL). Students will also get acquainted with and try out a variety of language learning technological tools to practice their language skills or begin learning a new language. As they do so, they will analyze the experience interacting with and learning from the technological tools in terms of best practices for language learning and effective intercultural communication. They will also apply their developing knowledge of language learning technology to lesson planning, looking into ways to integrate technology effectively into virtual and hybrid classrooms. Throughout the course, students will increase their understanding of the intersection of language and culture in an increasingly technology-rich world. Offered fall and spring semesters.
